Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this site really free?
A: Yes, it's 100% FREE!

Q: What's the catch? How do you make money?
A: We make money through third party advertisers. The more businesses and consumers we have using the site, the more ads we can sell. Therefore, we want to keep it 100% FREE and easy for you to use.

Q: What types of businesses is this site designed for?
A: Our site is designed for business to consumer small businesses (restaurants, hardware stores, tanning salons, etc), professionals (doctors, attorneys, hairstylists, real estate agents, etc), and groups of professionals (medical practices, law firms, hair salons, real estate firms, etc).

Q: What types of businesses is this site NOT designed for?
A: Our site is NOT designed for b2b businesses, internet based businesses, large chain stores or pornographic/adult service providers.

Q: How can making a page help my business?
A: Pages can help your business in two ways: attracting new customers and keeping in touch with current customers. Since we're a directory, consumers search us to find new businesses and by having a page you allow them to find your business also.

You can also keep in touch with current customers by giving them your "MyLocalSpot Address" (explained below) so they can go directly to your page. Since you can update your page at any time, you can always let them know about any new specials, items or information that relate to your business.

Q: How do I create a page?
A: Click on "create a page" in the toolbar and follow the instructions.

Q: How do I edit my page?
A: We realize that businesses always have new info that they want to communicate to consumers (your phone number changes, you take some new pictures of your store, you have a new special, etc) and that you don't always want to deal with the hassle and expense of paying a web designer. Therefore, we let you update your page at any time, as many times as you want, for FREE! Just login and click on "edit my page" and follow the instructions.

Q: Any tips on what to include in a business page?
A: Most of the consumers who search our site know WHAT they want, they just don't know where they want to buy it. For example, Suzy knows she wants to go to a coffee shop, but she isn't sure which coffee shop. Your page should tell Suzy why she should choose you! Just giving her your contact information doesn't make a very compelling case...Suzy wants a nice description, some pictures and definitely wants to know what specials your running. It's your chance to win over a new customer...use it!

Q: What is a "mylocalspot address?"
A: We wanted to create a way for you to automatically refer your customers to your page, so we came up with "mylocalspot addresses." When you create your page (or when you're editing it) there's a place where you can choose your "mylocalspot address." For example, if you choose "BillsPizza," then "www.mylocalspot.com/BillsPizza" will automatically take someone to your page. It's kind of like having your own personal website address on mylocalspot.

Q: What's the difference between a group and a business page?
A: A business page represents a specific business (someone who's selling a good or service to people). A group is designed for business organizations (chambers of commerce, economic development councils, law firms, etc) that want a way to communicate with their members who have pages.

Q: Who can I contact if I have any additional questions?
A: You can send us an email at info@mylocalspot.com.
